Ongoing Hilarious Thread at The Drake...

Starts a little slow, but by page 3 the genius can be clearly seen.

Were I not merely a lurker; "It walks down stairs alone or in pairs and makes a clickety sound, everyone knows it's orvis."

Friday / Christmas Eve Bacon!

Behold, I bring you tidings of colossal joy.  For this day, in a stable, a child was born.

Merry Christmas!

May Santa bring you the most pleasing of Christmas gifts;
whether they be related to this,
or maybe just this.

Have a happy one!

Frying Pan Gallery

Saw a piece of metal sculpture today that reminded me of this cool art gallery we'd run into whilst in pursuit of some good seafood in Wellfleet, MA. Just wanted to share it.

The shop is located down by the wharf in an old timey oyster shack.

The sculpt/fabricate some really interesting metal artwork like the mermaid and striper below.

The website will likely serve as a good source of inspiration for Stew, Bear and Don.

Holiday Gifting Extravaganza!

Recent deep shaft mining of the interwebs has wrought the following photo montage of items every fly fisher person covets this holiday season.  Remember, only 18 days left...

A few nice reels and such from Abel.

This in particular is a fine looking fully engraved specimen.

Some really nice nippers for the guy who has to have the best of absolutely everything.
A very interesting looking reel from Imago.

A reel from West Coast Choppers for the steelheader with 'tude.

Some finely engraved reel seats from Oyster.

 The latest from Cliff Outdoors.
A little something for boat...

and a little something for the car.

Wheatley's commemorative fly boxes.

A little something to keep the fresh stuff organized at the bench.

Marc Crapos artwork in leather, some good workmanship in the fly wallets.

A fine leather encased flask by Turtlemoon.

A Colonel Littleton bridle leather encased neoprene coozie collection.  Monogramming is available!

A couple of other interesting looking flasks for transportation of a wee dram.

A cup to mix a drink in during hailstorms, courtesy of A.G. Russell.

A nice looking poster available from Winston.

Another item from the Col., a genuine alligator flyswatter, just cause I would have never thought of it.

A Maori fish hook theme t-shirt from Bugslinger.

This truly unique hitch cover.  This would be sure to make those f-ing tailgaters have second thoughts.

 Two items from Hatch.

Again, just cause I thought it was manly, a revolver cylinder pen cup with .375 H&H pens.

And the combat ready, Molle equipped, grilling armor.  Optional beer grenade pockets are by definition, required.

A few personal hygiene items that may be appreciated for the next road trip.

And finally a couple of truly diverse items for your fashion conscious friends, Johno knows who we mean.

That's it for now unless you've got some additional eye candy to add...

Oregon Trip

The trip went pretty well I think.
Good conversations and good people.
Here is a little flavor from the trip:

The beverages on tap.  Of particular note were the Porter and "Locomotivator" which were both available on nitrous.  Mmmm, tasty!

Went with a brew pub staple, the ale battered fish and chips.
The view from my stool.

This is, on average what the scenery looked like.

Saw this very interesting motorized bicycle and had to share a photograph.  Note the PASGT helmet.

Also crossed the Umpqua and Willamette Rivers which were muddy and raging.  Still made me want to spend a few more days and explore the headwaters.

Old Forge Brew Pub

Made the trip over to Old Forge Brewing Company in Danville, PA this evening.  Wanted to take Walter and Nori out for a nice dinner prior to embarking on the voyage to Oregon.
I sampled two Belgian style beers; Trinity Tripel and Slightly Rood.
Both were fine beverages that well accompanied my dijonaise steak entree.
Below are a few photos snapped with the cell phone one the way out...
The street sign:
The brewing vessels:
The lobby display of "club member" mugs:
I know my phone's camera is crap, but it is what it is.

Highly recommend this fine establishment on your travels through Northeast PA.

Everything you want to know about the Old Forge Brewing Company can be found at:

Deer Camp 2010

Stew's 8 point gave him quite a run up the mountain and across property lines until it finally succombed to his hunting skills.
Also, not to be missed is Bill's fine buck from the archery season.
Many deer observed, including several legal, immature buck that were allowed to pass.

Another fine deer camp session in the books.

Special thanks again to the Parsons clan for the hospitality and generosity!
